Over the last three years or so, I have worked with a number of banks and insurers, helping them improve their operational performance. For the most part, the approaches they have taken have been “vertical,” meaning that they tackle problems such as branch optimization , back office consolidation, and IT performance silo by silo. Overall they have been pretty successful at this, but I think there’s plenty of untapped potential.
